HUDSON, NH – May 7, 2020: Approved Sheet Metal (ASM), a New Hampshire-based precision sheet metal fabrication company, has recently received ITAR registration and is on track to complete ISO 9001:2015 certification this quarter.
The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of U.S. government regulations involving defense-related exports. “To meet ITAR requirements, we implemented facility controls and strengthened security measures across our operations,” says Nick Mercier, CEO of Approved Sheet Metal.
“We were a new company at the time, and we had multiple customers asking whether we were ITAR registered,” Mercier added. “We made it a priority because it allows us to support defense and aerospace programs and better serve customers who require ITAR compliance. We’re excited to expand the types of work we can take on.”
In addition to ITAR, ASM has nearly completed its ISO 9001:2015 certification. ISO 9001:2015 is a quality management standard relating to the people, processes, and technologies within an organization. ASM recently completed its first external audit and expects to receive certification following the registrar’s review process.
Both milestones are important steps in ASM’s early growth. Since opening in February, ASM has added several new team members across key production roles and continues to differentiate itself through fast, responsive quoting and clear customer communication.
“We make responsiveness a core part of how we operate,” Mercier said. “That includes fast quote turnaround, regular communication, and being proactive so customers aren’t left guessing.”
